Jed grew up in Central Florida and went to Lake Mary High School. He graduated Summa Cum Laude, while playing both varsity baseball and volleyball. Jed attended Florida State University where he acquired degrees, with honors, in Finance and Insurance/Risk Management. He stayed at FSU for law school. During law school, Jed was selected to serve as a Fellow for the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives. He also worked as a law clerk at the Department of Highway Safety and, later, worked as a law clerk at the private law firm of Henry Buchanan, P.A. Jed was also selected to be the Attorney General for the FSU Student Government Association. He was awarded the James Harold Thompson Scholarship, and he received the Sales and Leases Book Award (highest grade), as well. Jed obtained his Juris Doctor from FSU Law, with honors, in May of 2005, and then passed the Florida Bar in August of that year. After law school, he was a prosecutor for two and a half years at the Office of the State Attorney in Orlando.  He is currently an associate attorney at Rissman, Barrett, Hurt, Donahue & McLain, P.A.
